If you pub with an AI flyer, I will not go to your event.
If you commission an AI mural, I will not patronize your establishment.
If you “write” an AI caption, I will not like your post.
If you listen to AI music, I will call you out.
If you publish an AI book, I am going Fahrenheit 451 innis bitch.
To be clear I do not hate so called: Artificial Intelligence.
I do, however, despise what I call: Artificial Impertinence.
These are insults to the creativity of the human mind. The audacity to replace eloquent writing with choppy, repetitive copy; to deny an artist an opportunity because a poorly rendered compilation is cheaper; to stream bottomless homogenous music when there are countless dreamers creating magic, just waiting for us to notice.
The speed at which we replace quality for convenience is astonishing, but not surprising. Humanity has always been tempted with the desire for more – even when more is not that good. Even when more harms us in the process.
For now, the allure of the shiny new toy is stronger than our appreciation for authenticity. But, like most new fascinations, the sheen will fade. We will come back to ourselves and realize that our creativity is our inheritance from God. The passion we’ve always had for our birthright will burn once again.
I’m willing to wait it out… but in the meantime, I will protest.
